W ,,,- L, 4, , ,S 47- - -We lags-ek --P --V -A - - invented a new soda, The Super-Duper-jet-Propelled-Atomic Soda. The first to try it out is Mary Claire Waters, who is just home from New York where she is a successful interior decorator. My attention is drawn to the door as a whole crowd of our former fellow classmates enter. The first person I see is the former joann Paganjnow Mrs, Bill Strickland, who is lending an ear to Mary Ellen O'Quinn's news about her farm in Georgia. Along with them comes Adrienne Thurmond, who is a famous missionary to China. Also in the crowd I see jo Carrera, who is making a success of her modeling career. Going on into the game room I see Herb Blum and Bob Eldridge, those world-famous ping-pong players, in the middle of a terrific game. Some of the miraculous things that have happened since we graduated are: AI Feinsod has finally made his trip around the world in a barrel, Lucille Waldron and Woodie Mae johnson are now Physical Ed. instructors at Fort Pierce High School, Bill Huie has flown over the United States twelve times in his own plane, jim Gordon is pitching for the Yankees, Kathleen Ezelle has finally found that Cer- tain someone g Paul Holley has just returned from a trip to the moon in a rocket, Wiley Gray has beef chosen America's Number One Pin-Up Boy, and that Harriet Williams is making a success of her writing. Spotting Marie Brunelle over in a corner I walk over to talk with her. She tells me that she has just written her own auto-biography and that it's a best seller. She also tells me that joyce Palmer is Superintendent of Nurses at the Fort Pierce Memorial Hospital, and Margaret Westbrook, Madge Pyles, and Catherine Haggard are also nurses at the same hospital. She says that Glenn Henderson is an All- American basketball player. Bidding Marie good-bye, I stroll over to where the orchestra is tuning up. For this special occasion, Lowell Thomas and his orchestra have consented to play. I walk over to tell him hello and he informs me that jimmie joiner now owns his own printing shop. He also says that Barbara Carter and Nancy jones are partners in a fashion designing business and that Willie jean Bevis is a private secretary to Moran McKenzie, who is now National Key Club Director. He relates that Dan Kelly is considered The Playboy of New York. Leaving Lowell, I stroll over to talk to Vivian Smith who is now a Power's Model. From her I learn that Euretha Black is' happily married and is the proud mother of twins. Vivian also says that Dewey Bourn now manages the Fort Pierce version of the Stork Club. I learn that Bobby Braswell has taken over the chain of Sunrise Grocery Stores and that Gladys Hartley manages Hartley's Restaurant, and also that Don PoweIl's presi- dent of the St. Lucie County Bank. My attention is attracted by another group coming in the door. Among these are joyce Cail, Fern Freer, and Hazel Curl, co-managers of the McCrory's Dime Store. Behind them comes Marion Cain, who is noted for the popcorn that she pops at the Sunrise Theater. Roger, now a famous radio announcer, comes in next. As Roger leaves, my attention is again drawn to the door. I see Betty Cato, who has just written a book on the principles of chemistry. Eleanor Childs comes in next. She now operates her own theater. jimmy Sallette, Lover Boy of I958, enters next. Then I see Dolly Rowe, who is mayor of White City. - ' Who could that be? Why it's john Hughes, principal of Fort Pierce High School. I stroll over to talk with him and learn that Anna now teaches Physical Ed at-guess where-Vero Beach High. He tells me that Carl Sapp has taken over Mrs. Cahow's position at our school. I learn that Gerard Van Eick and Donald Sykes run a used car business and that Loree Wilder and Crosby Anita Wright operate a florist shop. After talking with everyone about everyone I am convinced that the class of '48 is a huge success, as l knew it would be. U -L-.L gh -ALLLN A -LV-KW .,,...n
