It seems that the buildings have ever echoed the whine of the big trucks, the staccato of the air hammers, and the profundo of the Cats as they roar into power. The ever-increasing student body keeps up a persistent pressure for additional classrooms, laboratories, and office space. Heavy equipment prepares the way for the foundations of the Busch Memorial Center.

Such maturing comes from the clash of minds, as students debate and defend their opinions, as they meet socially-at dances, bridge tables, and the meet- ings of organizations. For these obiectives the University maintains some hundred and thirty organizations covering one's religious, social, and academic interests. Paula Fitzsimmons, Greek Week Queen, and Mike Kelly, elected The Ugliest Man, meet on the dance floor.
