TRACK AN FIELD Going into his fourth year as Crusader headcoach, Reginald Godwin TSI!! 'T fi t Puff! Puff! Around in circles they go! Around and around and around. They never stop running around in circles. They run till the coach is tired of watching them, then they bring in a new coach and run some more. 5 laps, TO laps, I5 laps, 20-its worse than ROTC. Everyday-around and aroundfday in day out, week in week out, month in month outwaround and around in circles. Then, finally, the track season is at its peak. The number by this time has dwindled-the number of those running around and around in circles. There's lanky Herb Enos out there picking up speed with ease with those long lanky legs of his-four years he's been running around and around in circles, never got tired of it yet-lots of energy that boy. Herb's the best high jumper in the State-holds the record you know. That little fellow out there, may not look like much but you should see him in action They say dynamite comes in small packages and that fellow s sure the living proof of that statement Holds a couple of records himself pole vault and broad lump Besides running around and around in circles he plays football and basket ball too names Fred Kauhane Those two guys speeding along in a dead heep they re Mike Magruder and Alfred Chun good sprinters Here comes a good runn r fastest mnler we have Bob Cum mings Theres a hard worker upcoming tumor Dave Brown And there s also George Garma another lunior who will be a good runner That fine looking fellow over there practicing the shot put is the Student Veep Dick Taken really nice sort That man over there who seems to be watching every thing at once thats Coach Reginald Godwin Hes been coach for the Red n Blue for the past three years really knows his business Well its time to go As we go we notice the same old pluggers going around and around in circles and we begin to wonder If ts worth it running around and around in circles day in day out we k in week out month in month out In order to represent the dear old alma mater at a track meet where the fans seldom show any Interest ls it worth it? Coach Godwin s boys seem to think so 9 H953 Furs! CONRAD LOPEZ CRUSADER LI KSTERS During the annual Christmas Vacation, nine industrious St. Louis men were busy proving that individual standouts plus team consistancy equals one lnterscholastic League golf championship. Very ably did thesc men prove this formula as they made a shambles of the ILH and captured all available trophies such as the Francis Brown perpetual trophy, the individual winners trophy, plus numerous honors for the lowest average, lowest gross score, and lowest team average. Captain Harold Ano copped six of his seven matches and managed a sensational 77.4 average. Anthony Lopez led the team in the Gold Medal Tournament with a net 62 and also took six of seven matches. Sen- ior Elmer Marques really shined in the medal tournament with a 65 net while taking seven of twelve ac- tual matches. Randall Wong was really a standout as the league's top point maker U8 out of 181 and as winner of seven out of seven. Smooth-swinging iunior, Joseph Spencer, simply overcame his opponents with long straight drives and consistant play. Team tiger Richard Lau improved steadily and finally man- aged 5 matches and 8 points Upcoming Sophs sorted to anything from transister radios to barefoot golf to hook their opponents And now can anyone deny that nine outstanding consistant linksters equals one outstanding consistant championship team? These boys really know their match huh? RANDY WONG e-a..,,4'J LOPEZ RICHARD LAU ,Q-. Y--I-1 Jos srsucen SAM HARRY fs - , l,. f -1, f i ff? ., .. . J, Y - I K-if V S ' A ,W 5 2 Z W .
