Although the final out- come was 26-13, the game was played on even terms for nearly the entire contest, with the bread finally going to the Tigers. After gala halftime entertainment the contest turned into an old-fashioned scoring battle. With the score 13-0 the wrong way, the Crusaders settled down and decided to do something about it. They took a Tiger kickoff and moved it 70 yards downfield to score in three plays. It was Saint workhorse Kauhane who actually did the scor- ing with a 43 yard dash through right tackle. The Black 'n' Gold came bouncing back, however, and ran 2 more TDs. The Saints, hard pressed, took the ensuing kickoff and drove it 71 yards in four quick plays on Noel Gray's passing. Ed Aguiar grabbed both the touchdown and the extra point tosses. The Tiger trio of Moku- lani Young, Ernest Nihi, and Ron Kiyota plus spirited team play fi- nally conquered the Red 'n' Blue Kauhane, Gray, Takei trio as Coach Jimmy Clark's last game as Crusader head coach was an unsuccessful one. ROOSEVELT AVENGES Stunned by the 30-7 shellacking handed them by Kam, the Saints walked into a Roosevelt trap and came out starry-eyed and on the wrong end of a 40-6 score. Nursing last year's 52-6 slaughter the Riders were willing to take nothing less than blood to avenge the Red 'n' Blue eleven. lt was apparent from the start that the passing of Howard Leslie would be too much for the Crusaders to han dle. ironically enough Leslie did see blood during the game-his own. He was knocked out of bounds and gashed by his own headgear buckle. With his face dripping blood he headed for his place on the bench. Freddy Kauhane averted a shutout by grabbing a 10 yard toss from Hall late in the sec ond quarter and taking it over the goal line The Crusaders showed great offensive potential in the second half, but with four fumbles and five pass interceptions they defeated their own cause.
