Rulers of the hardwood! The Crusader casaba team of T953 captured the Honolulu lnterscholastic Basketball Title in one of the year's most furiously waged campaigns. As was the case last year, Farrington was the maior opponent. But this time the Knights from the hills of Kalaepohaku rose to great heights on both occasions that they met the Governors and seized the prep crown that lust eluded their grasp in l952. Led by Lucius Jenkins, Ben Daoang, Vernon Oshima, David Yoro, Herbert Scanlan, and the Vicens broth- ers, Ralph and Mercer, Coach Walter Wong's cagers captured the championship with a record of htteen vvins and a single loss. They journeyed to Hilo tor the traditional Shrine Tourna- ment held to determine the Territorial king. After a close battle the RedanBlue hoopsters were nosed out in the final contest ot the tourney. Nevertheless, they played like champions all through the season and champions they are, until proven different. And so let's wait until next year, when the boys under their bril- liant coach, Walter Wong, strive to take a second consecutive title.
