In conjunction with woodwork, the Industrial Art course provides metal work for its students. ln this field the students obtain an over-all education in metal work. They study sheet metal and its uses in industry, and they plan, develop and construct metal projects working with sheet tin, galvanized metal and black iron. Many of the boys enthusiastically pursue hobbies originated in the work shop, and thus spend much of their leisure time in practical avocations. 'Viv-s,. l ,it Mr. Francis Lau Wood Craft 00 K 10 F7 .f A' 1.5. VW X .-r N . Q A -1 Boys at work. Amidst the sawing of wood a group of boys are hard at work under the guidance of Mr. Francis Lau. These are the Industrial Arts students, With the motto, Guid- ance, Safety, Experience, these students learn practical skills in the proper handling of tools, and in woodwork. Amid the pungent odor of fresh sawdust and machine oil, they develop workmanship and habits of careful planning. Between sawing and sanding, the boys also tackle theoretical problems, such as careful discrimination in the selection and use of wood. From the cultural stand- point, the designing of new projects serves as an out- let for creative genius. Upon graduation these Industrial Art students will take their places in society as Handymen of America. Observant students of ll-G. Here's how, Eugene.
