gfzeaichq ehcie ' 4 The Biachephy club, the campus science organization in its second year of existence, got its vat of chemicals boiling late this year. Making fun, efficiency, and knowledge their motto in everything they undertook, the club had a very active year through the mutual assistance of its members, officers, and ad- visor, Brother Henry Bentzinger. The directing mind of all this was Valen- tine Chun, the club's president, who in turn was assisted by the other officers, Kenneth Chang, vice-president, Steven Araki, record- ing secretary, Samuel Kagesa, corresponding secretary, John Kuapahi, treasurer, and Hen- ry Fong, sergeant-at-arms. The members of this club enhanced their scope of scientific knowledge through meet- ings, movies, excursions, and experiments. Movies, sometimes known as audio-visual ed- ucation took a very prominent part in the club activities as shown by the every-other- Tuesday treks to the Projection Room, Because the members in this club are inter- ested mainly in the subjects in the fields of biology, chemistry, and physics, the unusual name Biochephy which embraces the first three letters of the mentioned sciences was incorporated last year. Lawrence Chun, proiecticn engineer, checks over with the officers, a film that will be shown to the members. The officers, intent on the elucidation, are left to right, S. Arcki, H. Fong, J. Kuapohi, S. Kagesa, K. Chang, and V. Chun. BIOCHEPHISTS watch intently as two members perform a highly complicated experiment, or, are Sam Kagesa and Fred Au the ones that are complicated? President Valentine Chun gives the rest of the membership the lowdown on proposed activities. Where ya going? --,,,, Ge .......,-

The boys go through another routine code practice. cwlia The Radio Club, alias KI-l6RX, orig- inated in the Fall of l948 and is now in its second year of active participation on the campus. Although it is one of the youngest organizations in school, the radio enthusiasts are energetically building up this mechanical art for the future in their operation of amateur radio station Kl-l6RX. With Brother Eugene Zapp as advisor, the twenty-five members hold their practices and meetings on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. Theoretical instructions, practical experiences and code practices are some of the activities undertaken by the boys. The first project of the year was the moving and the enlargening of the radio room. Wc rk, service, and opera- tion tables along with three sets of code machines were moved into one of the barracks up on the Third Road. Along with Brothers Charles Miller and Richard Carter, Brother Eugene has made con- tacts all over the United States, as well as in Europe and the Pacific Ocean Area. The newest installation to the Radio Club is station KH6TF, Brother Zapp's personal station, The boys have shown exceptional spirit and cooperation in building up this club, all of which is the result of Christian Education.
