Brother Raymond Dotxler, our hard-work- ing Intramural Director. Vwmmmaz With a great deal of cooperation from the members of the student body, the Intramural Department at Saint Louis College, headed by Brother Raymond Dotzler, has made, within the past years, an enormous amount of improvements and progress. The numerous competitions in football, basketball, base- ball, and track are being held on the athletic field, accord- ing to their corresponding seasons. Thrills and excitements are plentiful, and the games are marked with hard play and excellent sportsmanship. The intramural competitions lasts from the opening whistle of the kick-off to the last dip of the swimming meet. This means ten full months of active ities lined up for the boys. g I Although there are but a few letter- men returning to the varsity swim- ming team, there are many prospects turning out this year. They are very seriously developing their condition and stamina to be ready for the big meets, the Yale, M.l.T., Junior Scho- lastic and Territorial meets. Swimming is considered one of the toughest sports because it is an in- dividual pertormance and requires 0 lot of courage, yet the eager swim- mers are willing to face it. Under the leadership of Sam Nahoopii and train- ing of Coach Sagawo, they will be a formidable team. Front row, I to r: F. Araki, B. Wong, R. Ubasa. Second row: L, Wong, E, Hee, S. Nahoopii. ,bcvzld It's a big task and Brother Dotzler has ably handled it for two years now, with very little complaint from the partic- ipants. This big iob has been taken over by Brothers Clarence Chew and Joseph Napier. They replaced Brother Dotzler on his departure for the West Coast. And what's all this work done for? All the extra hours of work put in by these good Brothers is for the chief purpose of developing the characters of the students, a part of CHRlSTlAN EDUCATION. These friendly tussles will often show just what a guy is made of. The recognition of the arbiters as sole judge of complications arising from these games, the respecting of your opponents as well as their backers, are but a few of the many things that are required of you on the field.
