I 8 ROOSEVELT 0 Fresh from pre-season victories over Waipahu from Rural Oahu and Wai- mea of Kauai, the Crusaders opened their l9-49 lnterskol campaign against Roosevelt. A pass from Elmer Solidum to Walt Cabral racks up the first Saint TD of the year. Rough Rider's offense halted again and again by fumbles and tough SLC forward wall. Just before half ends, Alberto Esti- amba takes pitchout from Solidum and rambles 49 yards to score. ln the third quarter Val Freitas crashes over from the Rider two to tally the last six- pointer. All three conversions are missed. 25 PUNAHOU I4 Buffanblus hot. Score first to lead 7-O at the quarter. Saints tie it up on Solidum's bootleg dash to paydirt and Cabral's conversion. Punahou marches again to grab a I4-7 lead at halftime. Saints bounce back in the third period. Roll 54 yards to score. A 25 yard pass play with Cabral scoring does the trick. Try for point fails . , . Punahou l4, St, Louis l3. ln the last period Crusaders smash over for two more touchdowns to sew up game. Cabral snags toss and falls over the goal line for the seventh point, Led by Dick Gomard's deadly heav- ing McKinley registers ta make it 6-7 in the final canto. With seconds in the game Estiamba streaks through Mick line on a 25-yard gallop to the Promised land. 21 KAMEHAMEHA I9 The unbeaten Crusaders tangle with Kam, A 50-yard parade down the field puts St. Louis into the scoring column first. Henry Barrett hauls in Solidum's toss for TD. Bill Yana adds the first of his three successful conversions. Kam roars back to tie the score. SLC takes the lead when Alvin Ca- brinha plunges over to climax 60-yard drive. Warriors cross goal line again but Saints hold l4-l3 edge at inter- mission. Warriors go ahead.
