Bnofhm, - .Ian 51. , .Sn 'WL flauvhi W8 THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE My dear Graduates: After twelve years of persevering effort, you have reached the goal of your ambition. Although the struggle was difficult at times, you had before you the motivation of those responsible for your guidance. The guidance and example of your teachers, who are consecrated to the cause of the Christian education of youth, was the stimulus which urged you on to greater effort. lt was their devotedness and willingness to help, not only in the classroom but in the extra-curricular activities as well, which supplied the incentive always to move forward. Our sincere congratulations to you upon this happy Occasion and every best Wish for your success in your future endeavors. We are, today, passing through a crisis in the international scene and our present concern is the preservation of democracy, our American way of life. Democracy is the only way of life that makes possible the full and free use of knowledge in solving our present day problems. But, in all the difficulties you will encounter as you leave the halls of your Alma Mater, your only safe and reliable anchor is religion. Strive manfully, then, and do your part wellg it is your duty. But, remember that worldly success is often disappointing. , May the true ideals of Catholic education guide you through life, may it sweeten your hours of triumph and strengthen your days of adversity. May our Heavenly Father crown your future efforts with success and may Mary, our Mother, protect and watch over you. LEO S. RAUSCH, S.M. President St. Louis College
