His appointment estalolished a precedent, as he is the first president of St. Louis College to he chosen from the faculty staff. His was the tremendous task of restoring St. Louis College hack to norrnalcy after the war years and he ac- complished this to the glowing satisfaction of all. ln addition, he made great strides in furthering the wel- fare of the students.
