'7!ze .Baal Tfem SEPTEMBER: This otherwise fair month saw us wending our ways back to the hallowed halls of of Prep . . . Rube Kohler, from whose mouth flows a torrent of witticisms informed his acquaintances that everyone he met over the Summer was Thoroughbred gink . . . By the end of the month, Fourth Year was convinced that Father Tackaberry represented a despotic regime and was calling on Senator Keiauver to investigate his un-Seminarian acitvies . . . Father Leonard's palm was read-and his face was red. OCTOBER: Fathers Gaydos and Zimney played Football-eleven men failed Math and Latin . . . Father Tackaberry was surprised to find that the Barnyard on the Third Floor was Rich Reilly . . . Tom O'Toole opened a weight-lifting class in his room. Tom worked until Moon- light closed the shop . . . McDermott quit the Yearbook for the 100th time . . . Sixth Year held a Gaudeamus in honor of Columbus, It seems many people never heard of him. NOVEMBER: Don Kratovil suffered nervous prostration and lost the Presidency of the Get Ahead Club when Father Murphy gave a quiz. Immediately, ambitious Don formed the Catch Up Club . . . Father Taugher was named head of the Clean Your Room Week . . . Thanksgiving Recess was spent profitably at home memorizing Milton. DECEMBER: Fifth Year produced a drama titled Real Treasure. Nick Hirtz, the Arkansas Traveller, said, lt's 'Real' all right: real ginkl . . . McDermott quit the Yearbook for the l0O0th time . . . I-lad a movie called Little Lord Fauntleroy. It was so old that I-Ierm Schafers had seen it when he was young . . . An Economics Prof put himself to sleep in class . . . Father Brennan was heard speaking with Clyde McCann in Scotch accent. IANUARY: Returned from Christmas vacation quite weary . . . Ed Moore had that Dissipated look-or so thought Father Rector . . . McDermott quit the Yearbook for the l0,000th time . . . Cecil B. DeCann ranted and raged when he didn't receive a Critic's Award for Best Direction. Skeeter claimed that if Gloria Swanson received one for her Comeback, he should receive one also. Trouble is that Cecil hasn't even made a start yet . . , The Glee Club began posting signs to let students know that there was such a thing. FEBRUARY: Thirty-six dead cats arrived in the Anatomy Lab. All were vets of a Marine Corps expedition into China with an Irish scientist . . . Rube Kohler won a spelling match from Father Mullins . . . Luigi Pitti suggested that pin ball machines be installed in the library since the books in the place were so seldom used . . . McDermott quit the Yearbook for the 20,000th time . . . Antoine Ziegler opened a sewing school on the Third Floor . . . Fat Kinealy disappeared for three days. Wasn't found till Monk Knecht cleaned up Fat's room . . . The Ancient Order of Transient Dormitorians was revised as the Modern Society of Semi-permanent Dorm Dwellers. MARCH: Biceps O'Toole was returning hats at l:00 A. M .... McDermott quit the Yearbook for the 35,000th time . . . Poor Don Kratovil was still trying to get ahead. Locked himself in his room to study and couldn't get out. Iesse Iames burned the door down with Feur- bacher's lamp , . . Rich Reilly lost his dog, Rex . . . Rosey McLain was seen losing more hair every time someone brought him a letter . . . Luigi Pitti's mob investigated mysterious noises in the attic. Luigi directed operations from under his bed . . . Stage- boy O'Brien, tired of jazzing up the Liturgy, tried to combine acrobatics with his Sacristan's duties . . . College Students wondered why many of the Anatomy class wore hip boots to class . . . Seems things get pretty deep in there. APRIL: Father Tackaberry marked the advent of Spring by replacing his woolen earmutfs with cotton ones . . . McDermott . . . yes, the 75,000th time . . . Wilbur Moore published a book titled De Piscibus . . . McDermott won the P U litzer prize for taking pictures on already developed film . . . Erudite Ed Moore used a one-syllable word . . . Hayseed Hirtz dis- covered more letters in Gink Oberley's room than there are books in the library , . . Roy Ryder's diet consisted of one meal a day-he eats from 6 A. M. to I0 P. M. MAY: Father Mullins hung his Master's Degree in the library, announcing that it had cost 525. Ed O'Donnell promptly ordered one, too . . . That extra golf club that Tater Crites was seen carrying was Ierry Simpson. . . Brigadoon, exclaimed Drama Critic Yougenius Bendel, nearly 'Kilt' me . . . McDimwit quit again--numer 100,001 . . . Brother Timothy and Brother James found a flashily dressed and bespectacled being in the Rec Room. Un- coniirmed reports state that lt was the poor brother of Father Joseph Brennan . . . Mitzi, the Cocker Spaniel, had puppies. They were the first Stuttering dogs ever seen . . I-Iayseed I-Iirtz got a crew cut to show off his muscles. IUNE: Exams and Commencement exercises . . . only 84 days till September . . . McDermott quit the Yearbook for the 200,003 time. Then O'Donnell fired him . . . Sixth Year had to drag Don Kratovil from his room- Charley was getting way ahead in Philosophy . . . O'Toole lost his binoculars, and had to be led by a seeing-eye dog . . . thus the last year ended . . . Lightening Dougherty was the last to leave . . . he had to start Night Prayers .since Schuckenbrock was already gone . . . With that we leave also.
