Mark Johnson Ronald Emke Consuela Colston Nanette Noland, Double Ruby Winner FL This year, the National Forensic League was en- dowed with many outstanding members. Nanette Noland, the Pres. -Treas. of the club, was the first person at St. Louis to receive her double ruby twice. The club was very active in speech tournaments all over the state. Here at St. Louis, they hosted a high school speech tournament in November and an ele- mentary speech tournament in May. Angie Gigur and Nanette Noland qualified for the National Catholic Forensic League Tournament held in Detroit. They will represent the Lafayette Diocese.

The club was more unified Lmder the leadership of Mrs. Dorothy Waldmeier. The of- ficers really got the club moving. A guest speaker from McNeese visited school to give a talk on engineering The club in turn participated in Engineering Day at McNeese. Roy Price was invited to give a talk on the stock market. Then due to the club's interest, Mu Alpha Theta visited the stock exchange. The Speech Club stayed busy this school year, dropping out of sight on Fridays and weekends to participate in tournaments in many parts of Louisiana and other states. With members in various speaking events and debate, the club brought in a fair share of awards, but did not garnish as many honors as was hoped. Lack of people was a real problem for this year's group, but they still ,managed to maintain a respectable standing among area schools. The club looks forward to more honors and more, often un- recognized, hard work.
