Speech Club The purpose of the Speech Club here at St. Louis is to give students the opportunity to participate in inter-scho- lastic speech activities-individual events as well as debate. This year the speech club participated in various speech tournaments and also the quali- fiers for the national tournament went to Philadelphia. Under the direction of lvlrs. The French Club promoted interest in the French language throughout the year by its various activities. Some of these consisted of the French mass, French Day, an out-of-town excursion, the french fais dodo, and the end of the year banquet. The club's purpose is to promote interest in Spanish cus- toms, literature, and traditions. FL Once again the National Forensic League enjoyed another year under the sponsership of Mr. Jude Theriot. The purpose of the club is to promote the interests of inter-scholastic debate, oratory, and public speaking. This year the club sponsered three debate tourna- ments: high school, elementary, and a new additional responsibility. St. Louis had the honor of hosting the tournament for the Diocese of Lafayette qualifying for the National Tournament in Phila- delphia. 45
