To a large extent, we are the people we are because Msgr. Louis H. Boudreaux was with us. He is the man, who for so many years, saw us through the thick and thin of it all. It has often been his enthusiasm and encouragement for Catho- lic Education that has facilitated such growth for us in Calcasieu Parish. Indeed, his personal, physical presence with us will be sorely missedg however, all of us know that his prayerful, watch- ful eye will often look in our direction, and that he will intercede to the Father for us. Administrator Father Charles LeBlanc, Administrator May I welcome all of you to this style of visit with the faces and personalities of St. Louis High School. For us who have spent the days and hours of 74-75 in this building, it has been a year of growth. We have used this time to realize the value of friendship and cornmimity. Hopefully, we have all taken a major step, through this year with the family of St. Louis, to come to a closer and deeper knowledge of God. Christ has been explicit in his command to discipleship . . . COME FOLLOW ME . . . We have learned in curricula and in extra-curricula activities how to follow better. The challenge for us now is to facilitate an even greater growth by a deeper actual- ization of our potential to love. It is my hope that as we page through this volume of Spectre , we may come to a more complete knowledge and understanding of Him who is Love. God bless all of you and good luck to the grades of '7S. Principal The academic program, the warm, friendly student body, the outstanding faculty and the beautiful physical plant have created a tremendous amount of interest among members of our community as well as educators and citizens outside our immediate area, resulting in many, many visits to our school by interested and just curious people who were impressed by stories related to them about our school. As we thumb through the pages of this 1975 yearbook Spectre, it soon becomes evident that the staff captured all the fine qualities of St. Louis and provided a visit to those who could not physically be here during the year. For accom- plishing this task and the Spirit of St. Louis, the staff is to be commended. So let us say to you, Congratulations on a job Well done! -naw'--K 19 W Advisors Adding to the everchanging scene here at St. Louis, a new counseling program was initi- ated last year called Teacher-Advisor fotherwise known as T. A. Q. The program tried to associate every student with at least one faculty member to Whom they could discuss any problem. In the case of conflicting personalities, a student could have the T.A. of his own choosing. 1. Mr. Theriot 2. Fr. Regan 20 Secretaries if ,A 0 424 gg. He wanted to sponsor dances, Home- coming, Tacky Day, Teacher Appreciation Day, a Concert ticket raffle, cake sales, a talent show, and a Student Council Day, most of which were pulled off, and with varied success. We thank Fr. They went to numerous tournaments, and in the majority of these, they placed Very high. This includes 3rd in the Barbe tournament, 4th in the Starks tournament, and 4th in the regional tournament in Alexandria. One mem- ber of the team, Andre Hawkins, qualified for the state tournament. They are looking forward to an even better season next year. They feel that this is very probable due to the outstanding coaching they had from Coach Tom Finnie. We grew a lot as the season went on and came very close to getting in the playoffs. Our district record was 4 wins 1 loss and 1 tie which was good enough for a 2nd pliace tie in the district. But 4 lst downs kept us. at home. Our season record of 5 wins 3 losses 2 ties is not a true picture of how good a team we were. The two ties we had were against thle state champion and the state runner-up, Upelousas Catholic nad South Cameron. The tihree losses were in hard fought, close games against tough teams. I would like to congratulate the seniors on a fine season and thank them for all their effort and leadership. For the underclassmen, l would like to present the challenge of winning district and state in 1975. Due to a few loose lips, this year's Prom theme had to be changed from the Wizard of Oz to something else. We wanted a theme which would describe the Seniors. One word comes to mind- Roaring , so what better theme than the Roaring 2O's . Work- ing hard on decorations, jrs. found that doughnuts and 2 o'clock just don't mix. As one entered Prom, there was a Speak Easy complete with slot machines. Decorations included everything from a bi-plane to an antique auto complete with rumble seat. Glittering stars danced in the air. Music was provided by Shadowfax Qfrom Beaumonty. It was very evident that everyone who attended had a blast. Of course! It WAS the best prom ever put on by any class, in the history of Landry, St. Charles, and St. Louis. We owe a great deal of thanks to all the Irs. who worked on Prom and their sponsors. 89 90. The purpose of the program is to give students from all over the state experience in govern- ment. The government at Pelican State is paral- leled to that of Louisiana. The participants are divided into the Nationalist and Federal- 'ist parties. Anyone can run for office. Pelican State has its own constitution and they have the power to make any laws. The trials are presided over by the judge and District At- torney. Conventions are held in the same manner as that of the Democratic and Re- publican conventions. After experiencing Pelican State, Tom- my Gennuso summed up the group's experi- ence: I was surprised at the complexity of these conventions and just how they are to a free American Society. I had a great time at the LSU campus and from the experience I have made friends from all over the state. fizgiiiiga Blake' Mary Stevens ' Sandra QL-RJ Tommy Gennuso, Tommy Latiolais 152 ads Patrons We would like to thank the following for their support as patrons of SPECTRE '75.
