The Father 0fSL Is Gone . Life is like an onion, you peel it a layer at a time-- and sometimes you cry! The Spectre Staff has tried to capture the layer of St. Louis 1973-1974 life. For some, a reading means tears immediately, even though the memories are fresh, for others, it means tears at a later reading, even years later, when the pages, like memories, are old and musty. For me, this year has indeed been the end of an era, the peeling of a layer of my life. Having been a part of this institution for almost 11 years, having been at least a mid-husband if not father to the borning St. Louis, having seen this new creation take shape and become the child of my dreams . . .to face disassociation is indeed a time to cry! God Bless you, St. Louis. IVlay all of you Saints who pass through these portals learn to cherish your memories of your alma mater as I have mine, Landry High School. Remember, too, its main purpose: to convince you, in the words of St. Paul, . . . that nothing can ever sepa- rate us--from God, or each other. Death can't, and life can't . . . our fears for today, or worries about tomorrow, or where we are: high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean, nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God. Walk into eternity believing that! EE: Msgr. Robert G. Angelle Administrator uni..-.,---f ,M-Hi' X

The year- book staff of SPECTRE '74 excellently accomplished this purpose and is to be congratulated. In thumbing through the pages it soon becomes obvious that the staff accomplished more than just re- cordingp they were able to catch and to depict the St. Louis spirit that high- lighted the 1973-74 school year, a spirit that will long be remembered by faculty and student as well. For accomplishing this the staff is again to be commended. It is my hope that the dreams and aspi- rations of the students pictured from cover to cover will in the future be ful- filled. 13
