NHS Had First Induction Ceremonies In March 1971, the entire student bod) ol Saint Louis Hij;ll School beheld the first induction of students into the National Honor Society. Thirty-five new members were presented with their pins. A few weeks later the officers of the St. Louis chapter were the guests at the induction ceremonies of Goretti High School in Lake Arthur. The reason for their presence there was to aid Goretti High School in reorganizing their chapter of the National Honor Society. Therese Bnndler lapped Mark Broussard into the Society. Fr. Metrejean addressed the student body for NHS Induction Ceremonies. Students welcomed Fr. Metrejean as guest speaker lor the Induction Ceremonies. The Interact Club showed its concern lor the poor ol the community bv collecting can tied foods tor the Gulf Assistance Program. In addition to this year-long activity, club members participated in the bear! fund campaign and in various cleanup activities on campus. Funds were raised b sponsoring a faculty basketball game against the Washing- ton High School faculty. Serving school and community, the club attempted to live up to its motto: service above sell. Club members prepared Christmas baskets for the poor of the area. .4 ' he finishing touches were added to he baskets. 56 Vice-president, Luke Papania looked on as the baskets were prepared.
