The members of the newspaper siall worked under the title of The Spirit Saint Louis. The newly-estab- lished Fourth Estate completed lour issues and an April newsletter. These issues covered academic, athletic and social news of the school, in addition to lilerarv accom- plishments ol the students and civic news. Four mem- bers of the staff attended the High School Leadership Conference at L.S.U. in Baton Rouge during the 1970 summer to prepare them for work the following year. The newspaper is enrolled in Quill and Scroll, a nation- al journalism society. ADVISOR: Mrs. Dorothy Lejeune Jane Regan studied a news layout. Members of the Spirit of Saint Louis prepared another issue For publication. 44

The Science Club began this year by observing the hows and whys of the local environment. A tour on the sheriffs boat of the local waterways was organized. The focus of interest switched from water pollution to space with the club ' s trip to NASA in Houston. They were able to witness the excitement and fanfare of the last days preceding the launch of Apollo XIV. The annual Science Fair concluded the club ' s year of striving to sat- isfy its members ' curiosity about their surroundings. I Judgement of the projects was taken with care.
