The members of the newspaper siall worked under the title of The Spirit Saint Louis. The newly-estab- lished Fourth Estate completed lour issues and an April newsletter. These issues covered academic, athletic and social news of the school, in addition to lilerarv accom- plishments ol the students and civic news. Four mem- bers of the staff attended the High School Leadership Conference at L.S.U. in Baton Rouge during the 1970 summer to prepare them for work the following year. The newspaper is enrolled in Quill and Scroll, a nation- al journalism society. ADVISOR: Mrs. Dorothy Lejeune Jane Regan studied a news layout. Members of the Spirit of Saint Louis prepared another issue For publication. 44

U. S. L. Festival A wards Taken By Club Members. fa The French students traced the history of French clothing down through the ages. The French Club of St. Louis Hi li School began tra- dition by establishing themselves as Les Amis. The eluli ' s activities included emphasis on Louisiana cul- ture, a trip to Lafayette, La., and participation in the French Foreign Language Festival at USL where numer- ous awards were won. The purpose of Les Amis is to broaden the French student ' s knowledge of the culture of Louisiana as well as ol France. CLUB ADVISOR: Sister Genevieve On display was an example of early French attire. French cluh officers: President, Cweneyette Monlou; Vice President.
