U. S. L. Festival A wards Taken By Club Members. fa The French students traced the history of French clothing down through the ages. The French Club of St. Louis Hi li School began tra- dition by establishing themselves as Les Amis. The eluli ' s activities included emphasis on Louisiana cul- ture, a trip to Lafayette, La., and participation in the French Foreign Language Festival at USL where numer- ous awards were won. The purpose of Les Amis is to broaden the French student ' s knowledge of the culture of Louisiana as well as ol France. CLUB ADVISOR: Sister Genevieve On display was an example of early French attire. French cluh officers: President, Cweneyette Monlou; Vice President. Eugene Carter; Theresa Goudeau, Secretary; Treasurer, Paula Burke. 43

Latin Play Received Superior Rating . . . The first year of the the St. Louis Latin Club proved to be enjoyable and profitable. The members learned a number ol Latin songs, including Christ- mas son s, and college songs. Some ol the members took part in the Foreign Language Festival held at U.S.L. in April. The group presented a Latin play and received a superior rati ng. In individual readings, James Rhorer and Tommy Keating received excellent ratings. As a final activity, the Latin club, along with the French and Spanish clubs, sponsored a foreign language pro- gram for students and parents with selections in the three languages. Mrs. Elizabeth Brame, ADVISOR ML M Caesar was played by Mike Lanza in one ol the drama productions. Officers were: Pres. — Mike Choi; V.-Pres — Richard Yoder. The members of the newspaper siall worked under the title of The Spirit Saint Louis. The newly-estab- lished Fourth Estate completed lour issues and an April newsletter. These issues covered academic, athletic and social news of the school, in addition to lilerarv accom- plishments ol the students and civic news. Four mem- bers of the staff attended the High School Leadership Conference at L.S.U. in Baton Rouge during the 1970 summer to prepare them for work the following year. The newspaper is enrolled in Quill and Scroll, a nation- al journalism society. ADVISOR: Mrs. Dorothy Lejeune Jane Regan studied a news layout. Members of the Spirit of Saint Louis prepared another issue For publication. 44
