Indoor Track Excitement roared at the 168th Street Armory Sectional Track Meet when St. Leonard's tracksters for the first time this season came into the medal winning bracket. Their success came about when the Open 880 yard relay and Midget 440 yard relay placed third and second respectively. Villafane, Cuddy, Greene, and Albano made up the open quartet which was timed at I:47.3. The above two teams also participated in the C.H.S.A.A. Track Meet held in Madison Square Garden. Lion runners cheered as St. I.eonard's Open 880 yard relay took the lead and placed first in the heat. The team took fifth in an overall time of 'l:48.9 in the finals. The Midget relay team followed this effort with a third place in the 440 yard relay finals. Bad luck struck the Junior 880 yard sectional relay when they just missed getting third place Medals. They wound up fourth and were timed at 'l:45.2. The Junior relay team consisted of J. lacono, E. Cusack, D. Pesce, and M. Naughton. C. Callahan, A. Grannettino, P. Greene, and E. Haywood placed third in the heat of the Sub Midget 220 yard relay. Callahan ran into a bit of bad luck when he tripped and r.fell. The time on this event was 0:44.0. In the Midget 440 yard relay F. Knauf, J. Gonzales, E. Halloran, and J. Regan also placed third in the heat with the time of l:24.7. Our last relay entry consisted of J. Wood, M. DeVitto, D. McCann, and P. Bonafede in the Senir 880 yard relay. They placed second in the heat with a time of I:56.4. In the individual entries, F. Horan placed third in the heat of the of J. Wood, M. DeVitto, D. McCann, and P. Bonafede in the Senior 280 yard run, and J. O'Kane placed fourth in the heat of the Junior 50 yard dash. THE INDOOR VARSITY SQUAD: Top Row: A.
