TQJSQKA . . Rev. Brother Bartholomew and Rev. Brother Alfred check the individual scores for the Varsity and the J. V. Keglers Drop in League Standings In the T959 season the Keglers dropped in league standings. The opposition was strong and com- petition keen during each of the ten league matches. Although finishing in the cellar for the first time in many years the Varsity did produce some stal- warths during the year. Tony Barrese, John Luongo, and Sal Venezia were three such individuals who proved their potentials while bowling with the Lions. Although finishing in the cellar the team was in there fighting in every contest to the very end. Brother Bartholomew's Junior Varsity Keglers fin- ished fourth in league competition and gave the school high hopes for the future. Tremendous team spirit was displayed by all the members of the team during the season, and Brother Bartholomew is con- fident that the team will place high in the standings in the future. VARSITY TEAM: Kneeling: Joseph Spina, Dennis Spano. Standing: Robert Valentine, John Downes, Vincent Paolella, Peter Hogan, Francis Monzo.

. . Basketball The Young Lions played their first game against Dwight, December 11, on Dwight's home court where St. Leonard's won 28-27. The next game of the season on the 17th, showed the Green and Gold a little slow. Ryan scored 13 and De Gray 12, but this wasn't adequate to balance St. Agnes' hard hitting Gazano and Vaccaco. Final score St. Leonard's 38, St. Agnes 58. Next St. Leonard's went on to be defeated by Thomas Jefferson by a score of 69 to 62. Again Ryan scored 17 and Peanoski 16, but their scores were to no ovail against Jefferson's Mascia with 22 points and Stellerman with 16. On the 8th of the New Year the Young Lions were defeated again by St. Agnes. Final score 52-34. The Lions came up with a victory when they played Brooklyn Friends on January 21. While their biggest scorer was Karaick with 9 points, St. Leonard's Perry scored 14 and Peanoski 13. Final score S.L. 48-B.F. 31. On the first of February, under the coaching of Mr. Arioso, the Lions challenged Cathedral. While Ryan scored 15 and DeGray 10, Cathedral managed to win by 3 points, the score being 45-42. On February 4, St. Leonard's again met Brooklyn Friends and romped them by a score of 63-39.
