Williams drives in to score 2 points. The Lion cagers, coached by Brother Alfred, O.S.F., had a starting five consisting of Al Wil- liams, Gene Kennish, Julian Fabry, Joe Cannon and Jim Mannix. Their strong bench consisted of Charles Norton, Hank Connelly, Tom Kenny, Ray Hall, Marty McNeil, Bill LeFever, Jim Koltzen and Larry DeGray. Ed Ritter and Hugh McClos- key were the managers. The Lions had to go right down to the wire before taking the title in a special play-off game from Loyola. The final game for the A.A.P.S. Championship started off pretty slowly, with both teams sizing up each other for the first quarterg at the end of which the Lions were ahead only by a few points. But, in the second quarter, the fighting Lions stampeded the Loyola cagers. At half-time, St. Leonard's led by 13 points. In the third quarter it was all St. Leonard's. They swept rebounds from both boards and were fast breaking for the whole period. During the fourth quarter, the Lions kept up the blistering pace, and at one time led by 27 points. The outstanding individual player of the game, and the season, was senior Al Williams. He was high scorer with 25 points, but even more impor- tant, he was the top rebounder.
