The end of the year means the arrival of the annual St. Laurence play. This year was no exception, and audiences were delighted with our production of Our Townf' the American classic by Thornton Wilder. After months of rehearsal, under the direction of Mr, Duslack, assisted by Chris Maceyak, the show was ready for perfor- mance. The story of George Gibbs fen- joyably portrayed by Joe Kalasb and Emily Webb Cfinely portrayed by Coleen Knight and Jackie Russoj was astutely narrated by Jim Valek and Greg Mucha as the Stage Manager. Other major roles were played by Ray Kay fDr. Gibbsjg Doreen Calderon and Danielle LeGould flvlrs. Gibbsjg Maria Shannon and Jean Van Tuyle fMrs. Webbjg and Gerry Ham- marlund, this year's gold medal winner fMr. Webbj. The play garnished praises from all over, including the former chairman of Loyola University's Theater Dept., who, once again, wrote some recruiting letters. Br. Oehrle, a veteran of high school shows, said, Because acting ability and fresh character interpretation of your cast, a most difficult work was brought to life and its message skillfully presented. As in the past, the sets and lighting were designed by Owen Patrick Kerwin, a pro- fessional artist and designer. Br. Vranka was moderator and box office manager. This year is noteworthy because it witnessed the professional debut of some of our members - Mr. Duslack, Gerry Hammarlund, and Joe Kalas in such pro- ductions as Chicago Story for NBC, and Bessie Smith at the Kuumba Theater.
