One of the highlights of freshman year is the Freshman Overnighter. At the over- nighter the freshmen spend the night in St. Laurence, get together with their friends, and have a chance to meet and get to know some of their new teachers and Brothers. They also try to meet some new friends that they are about to spend their next four years with. All together, the overnighter was a success and a good time. The lub's meetings were held on a monthly asis to assure smooth organization. Moderator Br. Jackson and President Mr. Walter Schiesl directed and supervised the meetings. The agenda for most meetings included minutes from the previous meeting, as well as treasury, membership, and usher reports. Following the reports, various forms of entertainment largely depended on the time of the year. At the Father and Son Night, the guest speaker was alumni basketball star Kevin Boyle. Club meeting. During Junior year, all students are required to attend a retreat at the LaSalle Manor in Plano, Illinois. Though some were reluctant to go at first, all began to feel at home in the friendly surroundings. The Bros and lay people that staff the retreat home were professionals and all began to let loose with their inner feelings. Most people that experienced the retreat at LaSalle Manor will most assuredly speak quite favorably of the good times, good friends, and yes, even good food. Upper Left: A view of the LaSalle manor.
