ibut Anglu-Saxon I augur English is the only course, with the excep- tion of Theology, that is required all four years at St. Laurence. With the difference in the individual tracks, each teacher is left pret- ty much to his own discretion on what he will teach, but it follows a general pattern. Freshman English was usually heavy on grammar, and offered a basic introduction to literature. While Sophomore English goes off heavily on grammar the Honors program, grammar is given equal emphasis on other levels. Junior English is survey of American Literature, however on levels other than the Honors level, some grammar is taught. Senior English is a survey of Literature written in the English Language with emphasis on that of Great Britain.
