9 Qumernming in 2 Qighlightz Swann Perhaps the most exciting time of the Viking year is Homecoming Season. What other time of year do you see so many people, here for so long, doing so much? The biggest part of the Homecoming festival is the hope and anticipation that surrounds it and humbles the event itself. Assisted by Student Activities Moderator Mr. Scott, the Homecoming Committee headed up by Jim Valek and John Kelly organized the numerous ac- tivities of the week that made everything work. The pep rally is traditionally the high point of the week's festivities and this, year proved to be no exception. The in- famous pep-rally skit was much better xiii . A than previous years but even that is not saying much. At high noon on the second Saturday in October the ritual began with the parade of Vikings through the streets of Burbank. After that the Vikes took to the field to prove that all this ado was not about nothing. St. Francis DeSales, well, they went home empty-handed, trying to figure out just exactly what hit them. In their 21-20 overtime victory the St. Laurence squad proved they were a force to be reckoned with in the powerful Catholic League. The after-game festivities were quite up to par with the rest of the week. The dance was held afterwards in the Gym and a splended time was had by all in attendance.
