Our current coaches, Ed Doran and Jack Phillips, have shaped players into a Well-organized and smoothly functioning team. Not only have these two men imparted their athletic knowledge to the team, but they have enkindled in them the desire to win, and they have taught them to place good sportsmanship above every other consideration. 1X1 3? if S6 Pl? Though Student Managers are often the Hforgotten men, how could we function without their valuable services? The job of maintenance and distribution of equipment may be less glorious, but it is highly im- portant and merits the Hthanksl' We wish to express on this page. F7 , Bisbey. football coach. OFFICERS OF THE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION llumbel. THE MEN BEHIND THE MEN WITH THE BALL Wlien the fans give a lusty cheer for a deciding touchdown or roar approval from the grandstands for a clever play, it is not always remembered that months before the game a magnificent piece of Work has already been done by a group of men basically responsible for the ath- letic life at St. Justin High School. We refer to the most efficient organization in the parish-the Athletic Association. Organized in 1938 'Lto assist the Rev- erend Priests to carry out an Athletic policy in St. Justin School, and to give all possible moral and material aid in the training of youth, the A. A. has func- tioned successfully ever since its first meeting. It has taken care of all expenses con- nected with coaching, outlitting, and transporting the teams, it has provided for injured players and has feted the vic- tors. And that's not all-these men have given their time and their money-indr vidually and collectively-to inspire and promote good clean sportsmanship among the youth of the parish. By their example and encouragement they have outlined a program which every high school athlete will Wish to follow in later life. The justinian Stall feels that this is the proper place to express the apprecia- tion of the student body to the persons Who made the plans and provided the background for such a brilliant season of athletics in 1941-1942. A RED, WHITE AND BLUE STORY The season just passed provided a fitting climax to St. Justin's football history. With the nieinory ol' a 1940 championship still fresh in the niinds of players who had helped win it, nothing would do the 1941 squad but a repetition of last yeai s league victory. And the victory was repeated-repeated by a team ol' crack players headed by Captain Fi'anc'is Seooge'l Keele who was named all IJlll'0l'lll2IlH two seasons in suctiession, and who tells the story as follows: FAGAN BROWN CRESNAN PETROLIO IWGAFFERTY Lfsrnouo RENZ .ff
