7241 Scholarship, Loyalty, Service, these are the words which give meaning to A.S.N. the National Iesuit Honor So- ciety. Each of these qualifications is carefully defined, analyzed and inter- preted by the chapter members and the members of the faculty in choosing seven select members of the Senior class who will be looked upon as the ultimate of Iesuit education. However these men are not satisfied to remain as men to be looked upon, rather they work actively to further the interests of the College. The following are this year's members of Alpha Sigma Nu: Milton M. Connell, President, Filindo P. DiGiacobbe, Daniel T. McWilliams, Iames R. Cavanaugh, Ioseph P. Mar- tin, Vice-President, Anthony I. Papa- neri, Secretary, and Martin I. Meade. 1 I I agma pc Scgma In May of l95l Dr. Meriam B. Trytten and Dr. Marsh W. White, the National President and Secretary re- spectively of Sigma Pi Sigma came to St. Ioseph's College to install a chapter of this famous National Physics honor society. Before St. Ioseph's could be accepted as a chapter of the honor society, the national officers weighed carefully the qualifications of the col- lege and conducted an investigation of the facilities and scholastic standards of the Physics department. The society has grown from six charter members to the present ten active members. Ioseph P. Martin, President, Ioseph B. Howe, Vice-Presi- dent and Iohn I. Costello, Secretary, comprise the senior membership of this organization. One of the most recent of the scien- tific societies on campus, the Clarence E. Schaffrey Biology Club, ranks high with its brother organizations in acti- vity. Having established its own news- paper, The Psyche, which recounts the highlights of meetings, the club has gone on into research on ways and means of getting more and more of their members into the various Medical schools. Under the moderation of Rev. Mark H. Bauer, S.I. the club has had meetings, field trips, lectures, and dis- cussion groups which weekly invade the lower expanse of the main building with everything from live crayfish and chicks to millions of their favorite fruit flies.
