O'Hanlon '40 M7501 5 ' ,-'fwa Wfllfllflb bf.17llfUllfCL The realization of a dream which the Society has had since its reorganization after World War II was the crowning achievement of the Villiger Debating Society this year. This dream was the successful overseas debate tour of Ireland and England which climaxed in a debate before the Union Society of Oxford University. This will long be remembered by the Villiger members. A busy season of debate found Villiger teams entered in five tournaments. The Annual Interna- tional Debate was presented during the first semes- ter and was held in the Flanigan Auditorium. Catholic High Schools in the area received the benefit of the collegiate debate experience of the Villiger men as Villiger coached their teams and judged their debates. In the Spring, the Annual Catholic Forensic League Tournament was sponsored by the Villiger. This year also marked an increase in civic group appearances and lecturing engagements. Interest in debating resulted in a large membership for the Society. The officers for the 1952-53 season were Austin P. Dilworth, president, Ioseph T. English, vice president and Frank W. Carroll, manager. A half- century of forensic experience and success insures CI future of progress by the Villiger Debating Society. The Iudges Panel of The International Debate. 1. to r. Mr. H.
