. s X 'a775 Never has so much depended on so few since the Battle of Britain! There were two enemies to beat, money and time. The money came in slowly while Ioe Haenn, the Business Manager, prayed and pleaded for more-while a few like Tom Smith and Marty Adams went seeking ads. Occasionally situations arose which are humorous in retrospect but weren't so at the time. For example, the contractor who wouldn't pay for his ad until he was sure his name was spelled correctly in it. tHe had forgotten that he had requested, Compliments of a friend l. Nevertheless, for the first time in some years, the Great- onian was completely paid for before it went to press. The Battle of Time was something else. Deadlines, the usual thorn, became only part of this year's battle. Uncle Sam also caused hardships. A week before final deadline he even claimed Iim Clark, our Editor-in-Chief. Since the classbook was not due until late summer or early fall, the staff thought to give the project full attention by doing the majority of the work after the closing rush of school. In so doing, however . . . Due to a consistent few like Frank Coyne. and Bill Iohnson who were willing to try -their hand at anything and every- thing, the gaps in the ranks were filled.
