THE RED AND BLUE and many world problems yy ere settled dur rng our class meetrngs We were well represented rn athletrcs by our yersatrle athlete Egan Padden So the year passed qurckly Frequent argu men s occured but most of us came out wrth fly mg colors and hrgh marks and we began our vacatron per rod contented and hap When St Joseph s Hrgh School opened rts doors rn September 1929 we found ourselves full fledged Junlors We were delrghted yvrth the manv rmprovements made for our comfort and conye nrence Classrooms redecorated laboratorres rmproyed and Cam pus enlarged Soon our regular routrne began Class socretres were organrzed wrth Hugh O Nerl at the helm and Brother Leo as Vlode ator We had for rnstructors Brother Lawrence Brother Leo and Father Grlrarn Thrs year wrtnessed the openrng of the new Carpenter Hotel and most of our Junrors Jorned the ranks of manlvnd for Chrldren rn shorts were generally excluded The dedrcatron began our socral season In Noy ember our J unror Qu1n tet under the leader shrp of Capt Thornton show ed the yy ay to all competrtors by wrnnrng the match fobs rn the Interclass tourna ment The members of thrs qurntet later became the Varsrty squad The success of our first basketball team rn a long and hard schedule was due marnly to the efforts of Capt Padden and the Junrors under the drrectron of Brother Leo and our popular Coach H111 The Junrors played promrnent parts at the Unron concert for the Orphans St Patrrck s Day and at the productron of My New Curate Exams and trme passed qurckly Sprmg arrryed yy rth baseball We were finally rnformed of our success rn the final rcams and we prepared to occupy the seats yacated by the de par tr rg senrors Creatly refreshed rn mmd and body we returned to the old school twenty sey en strong to face yy hat pr oy ed to be the most memorable term of our four year course The precedrng three year had sped by on yy rngs and realrzrng that rn another short 'Jerrod of trme yye yyould be at the end of our hrgh school career we feryently resoly ed to make our senror year one of achrey ement and success We found changes rn the faculty on our return A new drrector Rey Brother Columban greeted us on the first day and ntroduced to us Rey Brother Patrrck yy ho yy as to be our pre 1 Q 1 v Q Q.
