We have tasted the joy of learning, of friendship and of pleasure. We have chosen to represent these joys with Mary, the Cause of our Joy. Because of our devo- tion to her we ask her to come with us as we recall our joys and achievements with a fond hope that she will always stay with us and lead us to our Greatest Joy- Jesus. Dedication It is with sincere love and gratitude that we dedicate this yearbook to the Priests and Sisters who have taught and the students who have passed through the portals of Saint Joseph's during the past twenty-five years. We wish to celebrate with them the Silver Anniversary of our School. May all the Silver memories You have gathered through the years Light up each single moment Of our Anniversary Year. May all your paths be strewn with flowers And blossoms more unfold As the years 'neath the touch of the Artist Turn gently from Silver to Cold. fs? x 1 6 10 111061116 61:9 195610661061 115' .1 61116 16111111O'61' 0f166 66,1111 W6 306111 Q1 J0sQ06fS1 726 11111116 years hf' 1116063 61161 06-wges 10 166 806001 606116 6 as 1616 1600111 01' 166 fjyblpog we 1 166 111611101168 1661 191-6 defy lk? 6-9 V8 011. p1-911111110 10 I I 066 P1 Iv S T y 03116 111 611' 111 166 116111 1' fO IIS , j0y6O' 6 1616 6 J111 H7 fgf new 16 S6611 66 121' , 166 16111516 W6 0511 a11O' 6116131 11101116111 of 166 111226 W6 5108111 111 006 660' W6 s11106166f 60,116 1661 yoa 111111 611- . 6 16611631011 fbfglblbg Qs 166 601101 0f00f11,111611g 1619 -211601916611 W6 Q16 g12Q161Z11Z1 166 600116161106 y011 6a V6 ' 10 11.9 10 fbr?6'6 1616 6006300661616 N gl V611 Q6 ' 61aff C0 ntents A an dm n TM mir X13 dvr ll1llililillilllllilliiilli MOST REVEHEND THOMAS A. May we often recall with joy the touching ceremony and Father Fitzpatrick's inspiring talk on the signifi- cance of the ring and the loyalty we owe to our Alma Mater. It is this symbolic ring which binds us in love and loyalty to Saint Joseph's' and which commissions us to emulate the Christian principles it represents. As a mark of our senior year this ring is a con- stant reminder of the ideals for which we should strive. Let us always be faithful to Saint .loseph and Mary, the Cause of our Joy, and may our Faith and our wills be strengthened as we read Ut non deficiat fidesn on the crest of our rings. Annual Retreat Father Aloysius, the Retreat Master, Gives a Conference One of the great spiritual joys of each year is the annual three-day retreat. The 1955 Retreat opened on Monday, December 5, and made a fitting spiritual preparation for the great feast of our Blessed Mother, the Cause of our Joy-The Feast of the Immaculate Conception. It was conducted by Reverend Father Aloysius, C.P., from Holy Family Monastery, Hartford, Conn. Let us recall these precious days with joy, and try to keep ourselves worthy of Codls love. Let us remember, too, our First Friday devotions and our promise to be faithful to the Sacred Heart. The Mission Club and Catholic Action Prayer, study, and sacrifice for the Catholic missions are key words for the members of the Mission Club at St. Josephls. They all know what this means to the missionary at home and abroad. The joy of hearing the utrickle of the nicklesi' may be heard weekly and all rejoice when another ransom is announced. Let us always remember the missionaries and their work in our prayers. Let us always do our part for the Propagation of the Faith. CAPTAIN FRANK PEPE The Blue Jays 1955 Football Season The Blue Jays opened the 1955 football season with Pope Pius and lost a heartbreaker by one point. Score 20-19. An explosive ground attack enabled St. Josephls to rip into Immaculate Conception of Montclaire for a 26-7 victory. A muddy field kept the score from being a complete rout. At Red Bank St. Joseph's express train ran into a roadblock. We suffered our worst defeat, 20-0. The following week St. Joseph's took out their revenge on Scotch Plains to the toll of 14--0. This was a very impressive victory for us. Our trip to Cornwall-on-Hudson will be remembered as a fight for a 25-25 tie with the men of the New York Military Academy. They really grow them big. Our Blue Jays were out-weighed 35 pounds per man. The Blue Jays of St. Joseph's were caught in the attack of St. Cecilia's and went down to the count of 20-6. St. Joseph's turned its lone appearance in the County against Union Hill. We gained almost 400 yards against them. It was a well deserved victory for the Blue Jays. Our trip to Bayley Ellard at Madison was cancelled because of stormy weather-snow and ice. 1955 was a season out on the road. Six out of eight games were played away. Although it had a potential promise of an excellent team, St. Joseph's had an inconsistent season-3 wins, 3 defeats, 1 tie. First row, left to right: T. Liggio, J. Krone, R. Evelich, F. Pepe, R.
