St. Thomas Aquinas once said, l learn more from my crucifix than from my books. What is true for the Church's greatest theologian is a les- son for us. Now we don't throw away our books and look at the crucifix all day for inspiration and knowledge! What was meant is that the search for truth begins with love of God and is guided by prayer. The point isn't missed. St. Joseph's offers, be- sides formal religion classes, a rich treasure of spiritual advantages. Several priests are on the faculty, and spiritual directions can be had for the asking. The Brothers and Sisters have dedicated their lives to the ideal of religious education. Lay instructors also partake of that ideal. The Blessed Sacrament is always present in the second-floor chapel. Holy Mass is offered there each day privately and there are public Masses each First Friday and during the annual retreats. True wisdom would serve to convince us of the huge debt of gratitude we owe God for such lav- ish spiritual gifts. RETREAT MASTER, Father Trepanier, C.S.C., dons the alb in preparation for the closing Mass of the Freshman-Sophomore Retreat. We Build IN PROCESSION at Notre Dame's Fatima Shrine, faculty and students recite the ro- sary.
