To His Excellency, the MostReverend John Francis Noll, recently elevated to the rank of Archbishop by His Holiness, Pope Pius XII, in recognition of his noble contributions to Catholic journalism; in acknowledgement of him as the architect of Catholic education, who has in his munificence, spanned the dark gulf of ignorance with an intellectual bridge to the bright land of God ' s truth, with his great efforts for education in this his diocese.

DEDICATION In a spirit of true devotion and humility, we, the students of St. Joseph ' s High School dedicate this yearbook to Mary Immaculate, Virgin Spouse of our own scholastic patron, in celebration of the centenary of the promulgation of the Dogma of her Immaculate Conception; and in acknowledgment of her as the Patroness of our nation, supplicating her to lead us, in the path of righteousness, to eternal happiness with her Divine Son.

The Story of St. Joseph ' s High School History ... On October 26, 1952, a step forward in the field of Catholic education was taken. Ground was broken for St. Joseph ' s High School. This was to be a novel merger of three of South Bend ' s Catholic high schools. A long awaited dream of supporters of parochial education was about to be realized. Through continued sacrifice on the part of the people and stewardly management on the part of the clergy, the school was erected. It was blessed on September 20, 1953, by His Excellency, Archbishop John Francis Noll, and dedicated to the patronage of St. Joseph. In the same month the first students passed through its doors. This is but a beginning. The history of our school is yet to be written. It is the hope of the students that this same history will be lengthy and glorious and that its principles of Catholic education will long endure.
