We were the first Freshmen to wear uniforms. With the amount of knowledge that Freshmen usually have, we plugged along and at the end of the term we passed. In September, 1930, after a pleasant vaca- tion, we all returned except one, Estella Pfeffer- korn who returned to her home town school in Ashley. Most of us received typewriting and shorthand awards. In the fall of 1931 all five returned. We were beginning to realize that there were not many more years for us in school. The great- est event of this year was the addition of one more year to our high school course, changing it from three to four years. Three of us, Alice Klinker, Catherine Pence and Ursula Vander- bosch, decided to return the next year and com- plete the additional year’s work, but two of the class graduated and one left us just before graduation. The three of us returned in the fall of 1932. The year round we warded for the end with the help of those who encouraged us to continue onward for the gaining goal. This year is marked by many momentous occasions, the greatest of which was our dramatic victory “Patty Makes Things Hum.” Now the time has arrived for our departure, which means conclu- sion of all our follies and accomplishments at St. Joseph’s as high school students; in the future it will be as alumnae members. On the banks of the Iroquois River, ex- hausted from a strenuous hike, I decided to take a rest. My intention was not to fall asleep but accidentally this is what I did. I seemed in my sleep t o have a vision in which I was more of an invisible form visiting former school friends in their present mode of living, namely, in the year 1960. I seemed to pass into a large office at the Municipal Airport. Two people in here were strangers, but the private secretary, I immediately recognized to be my old friend, Ursula Vanderbosch, from the Senior Class of 1933. The strangers were the owners of the corporation and they were planning to send Ursula to London as their representative. She seemed quite happy and I hope my dear classmate will fill her position very successfully. 72.7 :7oo ooo I seemed then to pass into a heavy sleep, when again I began to dream. The situation this time was in a university of the State of Washington, where I met another of my friends, Catherine Pence. She was teaching Modern Literature in an entertaining manner. The ap- preciation of her work was evident through the comments of every student. Once more I rested and also once more I dreamed of the third and last student, Alice Klinker, of the year 1933. She was endeavor- ing to save the life of a small child in the worst siege of double pneumonia. For a moment there was darkness and then the child appeared in the arms of Alice, regaining strength. Each has chosen a worthy profession on the pathway upon which God bids us travel.
