Oa eer Une dee ND” GLO LD Class History ss 6 Three years ago a class of twelve bright- faced boys and girls marched into this High School. “Greenies” we were called, but I am sure that there were other classes just as green. The first month.it was rather difficult to become acquainted with so many new things. We were well rewarded at the end of the year when we were informed that we were to become “Sopho- mores.” REAL LIFE If you are made of the right stuff you will meet the troubles and trials of life uncomplain- ingly. Adversity is often the blessing of God in disguise. The school of adversity gradu- ates the ablest pupils, and the hill of difficulty is the best for strengthening mental backbone. If you refrain from kicking when trouble is your lot it is an evidence that you have the ‘right stuff in your makeup. You need trials to develop your character. Great men can no more be made without trials than brick can be made without fire. Do not kick or even sit down and cry over those poor old “might have beens.” Just accept what comes to you and do your best, content to know that by and by will surely bring vacation time, the unending holidays, and home. Re- member how many otherwise sweet natures lie all about you spoiled by prosperity like over- ripe apples in the sun. ACTIVITIES The High School students attended the un- veiling of the Lincoln Monument in Ft. Wayne. The boys organized a basketball team. They played several games with neighboring towns as well as a home town school and they won their share, too. Norbert is our “Star” player. The girls, too, organized, played and won home games and games with neighboring teams. We wish to express our sincere thanks to’ “ Mr. Merwood Sapp and Miss Olive Thomas who so enthusiastically coached both of our teams. We look forward for great sport next year in the different games and we’ll do our best to win. Members of the Booster Club enjoyed them- selves at a weenie roast in the school yard. A public card party was held in the church t7o72eoo We started this year with seven in our class. We were a happy lot and very ambitious. We had several class parties and all enjoyed them- selves. As we again drew near to judgment day we began to worry. But these worries all vanished when we became “Juniors.” We lost only one this year. We fully real- ize the part we now have to play because soon we will be dignified “Seniors.” basement in October. A delicious lunch was served by the committee. On the same evening the children played bunco in the school hall. The annual bazaar was held December the thirteenth and fourteenth. It was well patron- ized by the-members of the parish. A beautiful Christmas program was pre- sented for the public in December. An exhibit of the work done in the Manual Training Class and the Domestic Science Class was held in the church basement. A large crowd attended and admired the work. The Senior Class play, “Patty Makes Things Hum’, was given in the school hall. All played their parts well. A jolly entertainment was given by the school children to commemorate Father Ben- nett’s Feast day. The annua! Senior banquet will be held May the thirty-first. The High School girls who are members of the Blessed Virgin Sodality helped to serve a lunch at the initiation of the Daughters of Isa- bella. The Booster Club of our High School had a delightful party on May the ninth. Violin and piano solos were a feature of the entertain- ment. Following the banquet the class will be taken on a picnic. The members of our Booster Club packed a large box of clothing, soap, medicines, etc., and sent it to one of the poor missions in the West. Two of our students, Catherine Hyde and Lucille Johnson, took first and third prizes in a Poster Contest sponsored by the Professional Women’s Club. Over 200 posters were entered by grade pupils and high school students of the public and parochial grade and high schools of the city.
