Christmas The snow rides the gentle wind, settles in the twin bell towers of the campus chapel and hangs in the outstretched arms of great storybook pines. It brushes over the grass, scurries around huge tree trunks to pile up at the low step where the walk meets the large circular pond. Some of it struggles over the step, slides across the ice and fills in the cracks in the low wall and its six parapets which stand around in defense of the mound which rises like an old worn mountain from the middle of the pond. The rest of the snow hurries across the pond, molding the step on the opposite side to its path and over the sideÂŹ walk to blur the letters at the brick enÂŹ tranceway weakly proclaiming beneath a solitary street lampâSaint Josephâs ColÂŹ lege. It then takes flight like a blur of travelers out to the highway and beyondâ a prophecy somehow, for the college sleeps lightly tonight on the eve of Christmas vacation. 37 ÂŤt Sv ' J J.- â Jim Still offers help as Dockus finds himself surrounded. Beyond the call of duty, without whom this book would never have been completed, these words say nothing of the personal ties and bonds of friendship welded by a comÂŹ mon Sword of Damocles which I hold with these and the other members of the 1965 PHASE staff. I will not thank them hut merely hold up this book as their bookâtheir bane, their burden, and their reward. I would like to thank Mr. Hugh Cowdin and Mr. Charles Schuttrow for their great help in our times of trial and ignorance and fo r the nearly unrestricted hand they gave us with this publicationâa fact certainly to be commended in these days of censorship rallies and freedom sit-ins.
