His close association with Father Dirksen and other mem- bers of St. joseph's faculty, and his interest in the College is adequately demonstrated by his frequent visits to the local campus. THE VERY REV. IOSEPH M. MARLINC S.T.L., Ph.D. , Q . i 'ei' I The Very Rev. joseph lVl. lVlarling, S.T.L., Ph.D., head of the American Province of the Society of the Precious Blood, was formerly a student at St. loseph's College. Then after studying at St. Charles Seminary, followed by ordination in l9Z9, Father lVlarling taught at St. Charles. A leave of ab- sence enabled him to secure his Ph.D. at Catholic University of America before returning to the faculty of St. Charles. In l937 a professorship at Catholic University was of- fered him in the department of Philosophy. 1 One year later, Father lVlarling was elected Provincial of the American Province, and as a result of this distinguished office, he automatically became president of the College Board of Trustees. Of particular worth have been the philosophical writ- ings of Father lVlarling. l-le has been a regular contributor to The New Scholasticism.
