AN INTERESTING PROJECT of the past year in the woodworking' department was the conversion of old ten pins into objects not only of utility but also of beauty. The picture story given herewith, il- lustrates this transformation. The future lamp begins in the lathe. Dexterous hands of the novice cabinet-maker, mould the useless maple stick to a pre-con- ceived design. When the piece of wood has reach- ed the desired shape, it is sand- ed and finished to a high gloss, final checks are made, and the ob- ject is ready for varnishing or painting. Richard Grabbe shows Willard Staab and Ernest Pfeifer how the electrical connections are made in the finished lamp stand.
