My time here at St. Joseph's has been spent in an attempt at contribut- ing to the betterment of the college. Ironically, my involvement has also become a source of betterment to myself. As I complete my college career, my love and appreciation for the community here at St. Joseph's increases as the days pass. All too often, attendance at college is seen as a Hnecessary evil . I have learned that in order to benfit fully from all that college can offer, one must enter wholeheartedly into an active relationship with those aspects of college that will enrich his or her life. I have discovered that college is far more than classroom learning. It is the sum of formal learning and personal service to one's college, fellow students and other members of the community. With this in mind, I deem the education provided here at St. Joseph's an invaluable asset to the fonnation ofany student's character. My last four years at St. Joe's have been extremely rewarding to me. More to the point, they've been the best four years of my life. I've learned so much- about life, other people and about myself. The people of St. Joseph's have been everything to me these last four years. But now it is time to move on. Even though I am going to miss St. Joseph's College the students, faculty and administration, I will never forget it, because I carry it with me. Each and every person I've had the good fortune of knowing has given me a piece of themselves which I have made a part of myself. I am forever indebted for their care, friendship and love. St. Joseph's College is going places and I am grateful that I have been a part of it. And while myjob here might be finished, the job of future graduates has not yet begun. To them I have nothing but best wishes, realizing that through you, St. Joseph's College will stay just as I will always remember it: a special community made up of a very special group of people. I will miss St. Joseph's College, but I'll never forget it: a tradition of academic freedom and academic excellence: a tradition of open dia- logue, individual attention, innovative teaching and creative experimen- tation: a tradition of oneness in a community based on dignity respect and care: a tradition which I am honored to have been a part of.
