As surely as a sea breeze shifts the sands of our beaches, so the passing of time shifts the experience of our lives. We can be blown out to sea as quickly as a feather in a harsh wind. But, there has been a beacon in the darkness for us, whose warm heart, friendly wit, enlightened mind, and deep spirit have called us back to land. She came in the sum- mer of 1979, only a few months before our Freshman year, and has grown with us for the past four years. She allowed the sands to shift enough to make room for the new students, but not so much that we became un- recognizable as a class. From her work in the library, to her presence at a party, she has taught us to resist the light breezes, to bend with the fierce winds, and to keep a firm grip so as not to be swept away completely. Her light has never once gone out, or even faded. Her pres- ence among us has only changed by becoming stronger.
