Bn! as it ls, God bas set lbe members, eacb of tbem, in tbe body as He willed. 1 Cor. 12: 12, I5 6 20. e are the hands of Christ-the instruments of His Work in the World. The Work of redeeming mankind, begun on Calvary, is continued by Christ in His Church--in the members of His Body. This is the sum and substance of our vocation: to enter more fully into the life of Christ. The hands of the Priest, in raising the Precious Body and Blood fulfill their divine vocation to Do this in commemoration of Mef, It is fitting that the vocation of forming the image of Christ in us should be entrusted to these same hands. The hands that open the books each night, that gain eloquence in activities and strength in athletics, are being formed into the instruments of Christ's will. And the hands that receive the diploma at graduation, receive also the commission to be worthy of the vo- cation to which you are called - to be the living hands of Christ.

he history and tradition of Saint Joseph's Prep are typified by the ideals and accomplishments of the men connected with it.. If we were to choose just one man, who, because of his own high ideals and noteworthy accomplishments, is the symbol of all that is admirable in the tradition of the Prep, that man would be Mr. J. Gordon Wright. For more than twenty-five years he has dedicated himself to the work of educating youth in his own excellent and effective manner, and both students of the past and now their sons have never failed to be influenced by his positive outlook on life. His quiet simplicity and generous attitude, have been a constant source of inspiration. When, as freshmen, we first met him, we hardly realized that such an excellent teacher was indeed a rare blessing. As our edu- cation continued and we left his first year classroom, only then did we come to understand his devotion to his students and their respect for him. His advice was most sought after and diligently followed, and the tremendous admiration for him can be meas- ured by the throng surrounding his desk at the end of a period. His imposing dignity, and steadfast devotion to the work of education, his interest in each individual student, his remarkable patience and especially his refreshing sense of humor are cer- tainly some of the qualities that impressed us and will continue to influence us as we mature. For these reasons and because he has consistently provided us with an example of both an excellent teacher and outstanding Catholic gentleman, we, the members of the class of 1960, proudly dedicate this issue of the CHRONICLE to Mr. J. Gordon Wright.
