FATHER RECTOR'S MESSAGE The Seniors: Most of us ordinary mortals find it difficult to identify joseph, the Carpenter of Nazareth, with St. Joseph. The Carpenter of Nazareth experienced difficulty getting lumber for his customers. He had to pound what corresponded to pavement in those days to get work Ccompetition then as now was keenj. He had all the anxieties of an honest man who tried conscientiously to meet his monthly bills. St. joseph, however, was also a saint. Hence his diffi- culties, labors and anxieties were not Wasted. Rather they were transformed by high purpose into acts of holy love The lesson of his life is for you. We have tried in the Jesuit tradition to form you into Christian men. But we cannot spare you the difficulties, labors and anxieties of life. Imitate joseph, the Saint, when they come. Transform them by high purpose into acts of holy love for God and His Mother. Go to Joseph in prayer, too. He is perfectly in sympathy with your daily dozen troubles of one or other sort, Sincerely in Christ, Very Rev. joseph A.,Cawley, S.j. President.
