To 'rhese alumni and fo us, fhe seniors, Mr. Dona- hoe will always remain a symbol, an un- dying parf of fhe Prep fradifion. ATR Mr. loseph A. Mattern MR. JOSEPH MATTERN holds a unique place in fhe annals of Prep hisfory. Since his arrival in I9I9, he has 'laughf every subiecf on 'rhe school rosfer, wifh fhe ex- cepfion of Biology and Chemisfry. This disfinguished educafor has won fhe spon- faneous esfeem of our graduafing class. Besides having fhoroughly drilled us in fhe essenfials of Lafin and German, Mr. Maf- fern has efchecl deep impressions of loy- alfy and dignify which will remain wifh us long affer fhe frials of Cicero have faded from our minds. Since his firsf Good morning, boys! af fhe Prep in l923, Mr. Himes has shown fime and fime again The consuming fire which drives him in his efforfs fo insfill knowledge and high ideals info our dense and offen uncooperafive heads. Can we ever repay him, moreover, for sacrificing a more affracfive maferial income for fhe sake of moulding fhe lead- ers of fomorrow? His unselfish affifude and his fafherly assisfance have leff a deep and lasfing impression upon our hearfs. Mr. I. Gordon Wright Wifh fhe words, in fhe famous case of Brown vs. Maryland, our freshman ears perked up, for anofher one of MR. J. GORDON WRlGHT's hisfory classses had begun. How well we remember fhe fomb of King Tuf and fhe law cases we fried in class. And could we ever forgef fhe friendly smile and warm personalify of Mr. Wrighf? His wiffy remarks and devofed aid assisfed us fhrough our difficulf firsf year. We shall carry many fond mem- ories wifh us when we leave fhe Prep in June, and no small parf of fhem will be of fhis amiable sfafesman, Mr. J. Gordon Wrighf. y
