None of which we knew a great deal about. Nevertheless, we attempted we chose and selected. And an avenue was elected. One we traveled similarly. One which led us here. But it looks as if the track is not as straight as we once thought. It looks like it will up and twist again. Soon new routes will call us and carry us into new worlds, new journeys. And we will take to the road again. 14 15 16 Seniors 17 Cecilia Adam, B.S. Chemistry 1 - Karla Aschmoneit, B.A. English Political Affairs Club 4 Cheryl Bailey, B.S. As the last pages of the book are being completed, we look back over the past year and have many memories, both good and bad. Work on Footprints began last spr- ing, and since its beginning events have occurred to change our lives. Everyone at St. Joe ' s has grown throughout the year. Seniors are completing thesises and are looking towards graduation. The semesters have gone by with tests, papers, hard work, and good times. But as Desiderata says, You are a child of the universe, and as such it is the events of the world around us which have affected us most. Politically, we saw the unpopular reinstatement of draft registration, and the landslide victory of Ronald Reagan, who at the age of 70 is the oldest president ever elected. The death of John Lennon was one of the many senseless crimes in New York, and it affected all of us. He was someone whom we had grown up with and had become part of our lives. His passing was mourned by thousands. As a long, cold winter is drawing to a close. New Yorkers face yet another problem. We are seeing a shortage of the one resource that everyone takes for granted, water. Much of the Northeast has been affected by a drought for several months. The most memorable event of the year was the freeing of our 52 American hostages from Iran. Their courage and pride set an exam- ple for all America. Yellow ribbons became a symbol of unity and pride in the country. As we look into the years ahead, we are unsure of what events will occur to again reshape our lives. We can only hope and pray that with the help of our education and inner strength we will have the courage to change what we can for the better, the strength to accept what we cannot change, and the wisdom to tell the dif- ference between the two. 103 Our road at Saint Joseph ' s has come to an end. We met briefly, shared parts of our- selves with each other, and now must go our separate ways. We will always look back fondly upon our years at Saint Joseph ' s, but now it is time to take a jour- ney into the future and a new beginning. The road goes ever onward. 105 OUR FRIENDS and SPONSORS Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bielanski Mr. and Mrs. Henry Seidenabel Mrs. Catherine Huffman Mrs. Frances O ' Donnell Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Allocca Henry Hudson The Death Seat Doctor Kisker Marilyn Marchese Christine Marchese Jimmy Marchese Joseph Marchese Jeanne Marchese Gerard Marchese Melissa J.
