We could not realize that we were sophomores. Because of our light-headedness, we were dubbed by our teachers the laziest class in high school. This stung our pride, and to prove the contrary we placed five members on the honor-roll the first six weeks, the only class with such a record. We did our best in sports, too. In touch-football we started off with three victories and were only defeated by the league-winning Seniors. We were not discouraged. When basketball season came, we set out with a small team of five to do battle with the mightiest. However, the so-called lower- class Freshmen defeated us in the first game, and we ended in a humble third place. Ernesto Martinez joined the Varsity while Luis Vidaurri and Paul Seitz made the B team: all of them starring for the glory of the Sophomore class. Our class elections resulted in the naming of the following officers who piloted the class through much planning but little action: Charles Fansler, Ir. . .co President Luis Vidaurri ,casa ho- Vice-President Carlos Benavides ov -ow Treasurer Paul Seitz s....v,,,,,,,,,,,o ,ooovoo . -..M Secretary Now that the school year is drawing to an end, we wish to thank all the brothers and especially Bro. Iames, our home-room teacher, for their pat- ient tutoring through the year. We also offer the graduates of '44 our wishes for the best of luck in whatever field they enter. mMEmfmKGh-mDMmfmK?hm3KEz-fdDKGh-dDMa-AEEEa-.mKb..nB'Mz-.nbU3z- -67173531-..-nf-715491.-RE-7 fnfillliin-. fnlbliinsfxrfb 4937 .-nEQ1KC?31.fnEQlKC3as fnE17IC?In.

We are all a little more nervous than usual for this is our first year in high school. What fearful adventures are in store for us? All this timidity soon vanishes as class es succeed each other in monotonous routine and we get used to being called Freshmen. But we also lose our determination for hard work. It does not take us long to find we are back in the same old rut-and staying after school to pay homeworks. Most terrible of all, sorrow descends on the class and friend- ships are severed as a cruel separation takes place in our Algebra class where pupils and engineers must part. Time flits by and basketball season opens. The Freshmen are de- termined they shall not be licked . We breeze through our intramural sched- ule without a defeat and emerge the champions of '44. This is largely due to the leadership of our captain, Arturo Galan. Our contributions to the Missions and the Red Cross are as generous as we can make them. for we know that in this time of need it is our duty to give till it hurts. Now we have arrived at the end of the year and we look back with a smile at the nervousness of that first day of class. lt's goodbye to the Fresh- man year and up the road to Sophomoreville. ?XEmmHlKCEawrE-?ZlEmmSECCh-.fnE?XfCh-,t-1d'.?lltChwnS?EtEn, lil C3'21e-253 El C52-'REQ 715 En-.-QED 'Et C51-.463 'PK Cin-tt-if-7 359321, Ch-.4-23 K E21-.PRED ll!
