WBKCIWWDKGWWEKGWWHKCWWEHGV'U?5ElCEU UE5lC?J 5?55iCEU fE55K?37 fE55ilCSU 'W5JYtC?U SALUTATORY FSJDCLZ' In this our last school assembly we gather with you, our beloved parents, devoted teachers, and kind friends to commemorate a milestone on life's highway. The last grains of sand have sifted through the hour-glass of our high school career and have left us but these few brief moments before we pass the threshold of a broader and, God willing, a more fruitful existence. It is only fitting that we employ this short time in expressing a word of thanks to those who have aided us so generously during our high school years. Labor Omnia Vi.ncit, says the poet, Toil conquers all. But we have not conquered by hard work alone. Had it not been for the patience and per- severance of you, our devoted teachers: had it not been for the sacrifices of you, our beloved parents, our success today could never have been realized. There is no doubt that our debt to you can never be fully repaid. Yet, we are deeply grateful, and each one of us pledges to show this gratitude by a faith- ful adherence to the principles we have learned here. Four years of hard studies, years of struggle, years filled with joy and fears have passed since we first entered high school. During these four years we have been taught to meet the future with confidence. Have we not the weapons with which to meet every obstacle? Gold may tamish, fame may be defiled by the fickle tongue, fortunes may be looted from us, but training in the fear of God, knowledge of the eternal truths, taste for things spiritual cannot be taken away. No power on earth can desposses us of these fruits af Cath- olic education. No power on earth can oppose them. It is our duty then to enter upon the crusade that every Christian and loyal Catholic must enter: the fight between good and evil goes on. We are confident but weak, we have been well instructed but we are inexperienced. lt is with a realization of this that we ask you to continue the work you have begun by giving us sage advice and the aid of your prayers. -MDlllQin.fdQ2!CC-'51-MKMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMNE-mmmwkm fn32l1lC5u-.
