Because the other team was stout. After they had taken their rest, They got up to do their bestg The quarter-back said, Take it through the line! The play was conducted very fine. The referee then let them know That there were only a few minutes left Huddlel called one of the players, You'd better start to say your prayers, Because if we don't make a touch-down We will lose the golden crown. The last play was called a spinner And it turned out to be a winner, When the extra point was good. Bang! FOOTBALL SCHEDULE, ST. jon HIGH SCHOOL SEPTEZMBER . . . 21-St. Joe opened their football schedule against Elwood Freshmen by losing, 21-0. 27-We played our first game away, and lost to the Frankfort Hot Dogs, 13-0. 28-We journeyed to Noblesville and played our best game thus far by battling the Millers to a 0-0 tie. 29-We traveled to Anderson to play the Indians, and came from behind in the fourth quarter to tie them 7-7. VVe were later awarded this game 2-0 on a forfeit. OCTOBER . . . 4-Again Elwood proved to have a jinx against us as we came out on the short end of a 7-0 score. ll-In a return game with Noblesville, another tie was the result- this one being 13-13. 18-The Grade team traveled to Indianapolis to play the St. Catherine Grade team who were last year's Grade School champions of the Indianapolis diocese. St. Joe lost, 19-12. Herbert Gillespie proved himself to be a star as he scored our only 12 points. l J 19-In a return game with Frankfort, we were defeated by the same identical score as in our first game with them, 13-0. 24-We journeyed to Indianapolis to play Cathedral and played our best game of the year, winning 18-0. We led all the way and only once was our goal line threat- ened. After the game, Father Letko treated the players to a fine lunch. NOVEMBER . . . 1-In a return game with Anderson we defeated them, 14-12. VVe came from behind and with 22 seconds to go we scored the winning touch-down. Thus we brought our season to a close with 3 wins, 4 defeats, and 2 ties. The Grade team lost their only scheduled game. 'A' Page Fifty-four T 11 E J o s E r- H 1 U M
