1' CINEMA-SoPHoMoREs VERY MORNING ABOUT 8 15 the parade of Cinema Sopho mores begins. First comes Nurse Edith Cavell CMar- i guerite Durmj and Rose of Washington Square QRosella Faulstichl discussing a deep, dark secret. They are not aware that they are under the eagle eye of Sherlock Holmes Une Metzl and His Girl Friday -- Nancy Drew, Detective CLenore Fettigl. Their secret is never to be known, for their attention is turned to a ruler-duel between Robin Hood Clfd Blubaughj and Bulldog Drummond Qjohn Kelichf which is raging furiously until Captains Courageousl' fSisters Agnes and Doloresj appear, to stop it. The boys hang their heads for a min- ute but soon raise them and scoff These Glamour Girls QAngela Blubaugh and Jean Elliottj as they engage in the gentle art of make-up. At that moment Dancing Co-edu fBetty Connorsj is living up to her title with capable boos supplied by Blondie CAnnabell Hodgej, an expert on the subject, and jeered at by Babes in Armsu CFreshmenD who really think she's good. She has to stop when class begins. Andy Hardy fLarry Magersl gives the old 'can't find my paper' stall but Hnally comes through with a perfect lesson even to his own amazement. Still stunned by Larry's masterpiece, WizardCsQ of Oz CEugene Parrj and CCharles Spiesj, if by chance they're called upon, hold their heads for the rest of the morning. What they don't say is made up for by Girl of the Golden West CMargaret Kieferj. At recess the assembly is full of card and ping-pong players, while the music filling the air is the strains of The Bird on Nell- ie's Hat as played by Our Leading Citizen QBill Sigwardl and Man About Town CBob Dauenhauerj. Class convenes and in skips Fifth Avenue Girl CMar- guerite O'Brienj fresh from a card victory and she looks mischie- vous. Something's up, for The Vivacious Lady fMary Laugh- linj has the same guilty look. She reaches down and lights a string. Not a second too early, for in gallops Thin Man Uoe Redenbaughj waving a paddle. He throws it on his desk and- BANG! a firecracker goes off. He jumps and falls to the floor, hit- ting his head. Henry Aldrich CHerbert,GillespieJ rushes to the rescue for he knows how it feels. All the while Angel ClVIary Ann Biltzj rushes around being helpful, unhelpful and helpless 4 THE JOSEPHIUM PageFortyone
